What Does 4DQ® Mean?
4DQ® stands for Four Dimensional Intelligence. The name 4DQ® was born out of the popular term
"IQ", a 20th century system for measuring intelligence.
IQ is a one-dimensional, linear model of intelligence (See diagram below), which is governed by the neo cortex or
thinking brain.
EQ (emotional intelligence) is often presented as a two-dimensional flat plane with two axes, one for emotions and the other for intellect. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) utilizes the thinking brain and the limbic system or
emotional brain.
3DQ is three-dimensional intelligence, which incorporates the thinking brain, the emotional brain and the
reptilian (body) brain. 3DQ is the integration of mind, emotion and body, giving it three dimensions.
4DQ® incorporates the fourth brain,
the heart brain. I also call the heart brain the
"spiritual brain", because of its association with joy, love and compassion. For more information on the
Heart Brain, see my page on
Your Four Brains.
Here’s another way of looking at this. 4DQ is four-dimensional intelligence because it is the integration of:
-
IQ: Intelligence Quotient (Mind)
-
EQ: Emotional Intelligence (Emotions)
-
SQ: Somatic Intelligence (Body)
-
RQ: Resonant Intelligence (Spiritual)
4DQ® is also circular and holistic, while the other models are linear.
